Environmental control. As far as promotion, the AF is not a “just promote because” branch. Not that the others just give you a promotion, but there is alot to go through after reaching E-4. You dont just get rank because of your job and time in service. You have to test, go to school and get a line number.

Woah…I can only speak for TacP and the weather (I am weather and dated a TACP for most of my career)…but those are two VERY tough career fields…and the downside to both of them is that it is about impossible to get a job “outside” the military with the experience you get while in. TACP doesn’t really “translate” into another job and to be a meterologist, you need a degree…which is hard to get. I would say to try for computer operator or IM…they are both good jobs for when you get out…
Unless you are interested in weather or tacp…but think promotions depend on your particular unit in the guard.

TACP….I hope your a guy cuz females aren’t allowed to be TACP since it falls under Spec Ops. It is a very demanding bad A S S job.
Voice is cool (my BFF is a Voice troop). She’s been all over the world and deploys often so if that’s not cool with you, I wouldn’t pick it. Also, you’ll be assigned to a Comm Squadron, Combat Comm Unit, or Intel Unit. Small group of them so you run into a lot of the people from your past.
IM. I did it for like 6 years and it was alright but it depends on where you get stationed. My first 3 years was at a training squadron so I did mostly paperwork (admin). The other 3 years I spent in a Combat Comm unit and did the System Administrator part of the job. That was awesome but I did deploy A LOT! Can be stationed anywhere.
3C. My spouse is a 3C and he likes it. Depending on where you get stationed you’ll either be on a helpdesk working trouble tickets or you’ll be a tech. When you’re assigned to a Comm Squadron it ***** but when you’re in combat comm it’s awesome. Can be stationed anywhere.
3E….sounds boring to me. I think those are the people who work with Safety and teach the Disaster Prep classes and PAR team stuff.
As for promotion….it’s different in the guard…it’s based on your unit needs.
