Wireless network driver on Thinkpad keeps reverting to “lowest” Power Management. How to keep it at default?

I have an IBM ThinkPad T42 with integrated Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Adapter. Every time I hibernate my computer and then re-start it, the driver for this adapter reverts to “lowest” Power Management mode (draining my battery VERY quickly). When I go to the “Properties” page and click on the Advanced tab, under “Power Management” I see that it has reverted to “lowest”. Every time I reset this by checking the “default” box, but it still reverts the next time I shut down. I have also tried manually changing it to other settings (not default), but it still reverts to “lowest”.

Is there possibly some Power profile which is changing this value? Perhaps in the Battery MaxiMiser wizard?

or you can try changing BIOS settings. I am not particular with IBM laptops but most laptops are F2, F5, F7 or Esc + F1. Better yet visit IBM to make sure how.

I am getting used to a Toshiba that does the same thing. Go to Power options in your control panel (Window’s right?) and see if you can change the profile from the ThinkPad setting to a Windows setting. Toshiba had its own profile for mine, and I changed it to the ‘laptop” setting in Windows.
